Remember how excited i was yesterday about the Bubbley Christmas Special for last night???? Well is was!!!!! I even went up in the attic and re-oriented our antenna and sort of got reception from Norfolk…. 20 seconds of reception out of every 30 seconds…. isn't digital TV great.
Well, that missing 10 seconds out of every 30 seconds of broadcast may have dampened my Christmas spirit, because i was disappointed in the show. THe reviews i've read all say it was great. I'm wondering how many of the reviewers are over 30???? AND they say he grew up watching the Andy Williams Christmas Specials, and singing White Christmas in the summer (ya think he got beatup a lot????). And again i'm wondering, did he pay attention to those great specials and how they flowed????? I think the best part of last night was Bing singing "White Christmas" from the great beyond thanks to the techno-gremlins. I was glad to see he got his family in at the end. Even if it was just 30 seconds (of which i only saw 20 seconds).
Call me a Grinch, but the show just didn't have the flow, warmth, familyness that Andy always had…. of course how could it with no Evette, no Williams brothers…. not even a cameo of the Osmond's or folks in Christmas Sweaters (or dressed like Eskimos). And where were the dancing ReinDeer????? Maybe they should have put antlers on Elmo…..
I'm considering writing the President, or at least Michelle (she used to email me all the time during the campaign), to see if they could slip in a constitutional amendment or something (while congress is out celebrating) requiring anyone who is even remotely considering doing a Christmas Special to watch all of Andy's specials continuously for say 96 hours….. Now does that seem unreasonable???? Well,,,,, maybe i should go have my cocoa and a chocolate chip cookie and think this over again…….
Grenville (Off to watch 96 hours of Andy's Specials)

Some times shows just aren't as good as others say they are all in a matter of opinion ! Hey Thanks for the Christmas card it was wonderful to receive it in the mail , I don't get much paper mail any more I miss that . I lost your address from last year but now have it tucked away in my address book that I use . Enjoy your shows ! Have a good day !
Hi CG,
Your more than welcome. THe Princess loves spreading joy, cheer, happy tidings, and general good. I've learned to ignore the Thanksgiving talk of "no cards this year!!!!" it never happens.
Merry Christmas... Grenville
I didn't see the special, so I don't know what it was like. I do remember watching and loving the old Andy Williams' shows. I hope you enjoy your cocoa and cookies! :)
I don't imagine we'll catch any of the specials since we just seem to watch shows that we regularly record. We are currently, however, re-watching The Lord of the Rings trilogy to prepare our hearts and minds for the advent of The Hobbit. :) I vaguely remember trying to watch a Christmas special last year, and it was terrible.
I rarely watch TV so I am way behind on being able to comment but I do love the music that we hear just once a year ... prefer it from the radio.
I can't remember us ever having Christmas specials like You have. Sometimes we have seen Yours the year after :-) but that's it.
It's still very little Christmas programs of any kind here, only the commercials :-)
Have a great day!
Christer.
I didn't see the show either. But I bet your cocoa and cookies were good!
Guess you were looking in the wrong direction! MPT had reruns of the Andy Wms Xmas specials, Osmands and all last week. But,I prefer to put a CD on and just listen while i am doing something more productive - since I am so slow getting anything done these days... I think I will listen to Perry Como and Josh Groban, maybe even the Plishka Xmas album! Beats TV anyday.
