Friday Funnies

How quickly it came and is nearly gone after waiting the whole year long — the Christmas season may well be the most wonderful time of the year and I enjoyed doing a series of holiday this 'n that posts. This post-holiday Friday Funnies continues that theme.

Family members know of our fondness for penguins and frogs and gifted us with these.
The penguin is Neve and the frog is Snapper according to tags attached to each.
This group will certainly make laundry a bit more fun. Several months ago, we switched from using dryer sheets to white wool dryer balls, Grenville said he couldn't resist gifting these. While they're almost too cute to throw in the dryer, they will be used for that chore.
In keeping with a theme, this penguin throw was my gift from a family member. It will be very comfortable to snuggle into for winter reads.
Snapper, the lone frog, posed among a lot of penguins and seemed outnumbered.
Grenville didn't get a frog themed gift, but received these pickle ones from family. He doesn't play pickle ball, but was told that frogs were hard to find and these were green. It's not really the same.
Until we can take a return trip to the UK, we'll enjoy images on this 2025 calendar sent from friends, Kath and Andrew. We've been receiving these calendars for the past few years. It's one of my favorite gifts and enjoyed monthly.
The snowmen trio shown above was a hand-painted card from a 90+ neighbor, who I play Scrabble with on a regular basis. Every year for the past several years she has created a card with a snowman theme. All are saved and treasured more than any store-bought gift.

Speaking of gifts, the ones we give one another are small. Like others we know of a similar age, we tend to gift ourselves throughout the year. And, our adventures are gifts to ourselves. However, we always exchange a few things. I gave Grenville a cookbook, CD and ornament. He gifted me with the penguin dryer balls, a flashlight for my car and a music box with handmade soap.

Your turn — do you exchange gifts; if so, did you receive special and/or fun gifts?

Enjoy Your Weekend, Everyone

...years ago we had a nice glass pickle ornament which disappeared. We must have missed it when we took the decorations off!

Frogs and penguins are wonderful friends to cherish. Sadly amphibians are the most endangered animals on Earth with many extinctions having already occurred and penguins are not far behind. The African Penguin, for example, teeters on the brink. I was drawn to the calendar too having spent a couple of days on nature walks in the Derbyshire Dales.

I love the new arrivals in your collection! My gifts were mainly visits and ecards, which was lovely, nothing to dust or attend to, just to enjoy.

I love penguins, too! My husband gave me a beautiful penguin necklace years ago. I usually wear it at Christmas. We exchange small gifts now. He gave me chocolates and mini champagne bottles. I made him a basket of treats (protein bars, chocolates, and a few specialty beers).

What a great collection of penguins plus a frog...my gifts included some hand made things, including funny ones as well as precious. I also asked for the books that I was hoping to read, and so far one has arrived! Yes, I do shop for myself this time of year, because I seldom am out shopping for gifts any other time of year!

No, David and I don't exchange gifts, as what is mine is his and vice-versa. We do give gifts to other family members, however.

Of course we exchange gifts, but we share lists. The gifts, therefore, are not always a surprise that way, except for me, of course, because I tend to forget what I put on the list.

I just get gifts for the grandsons.
I LOVE those dryer balls! How perfect for you.
Looks like it was a merry Christmas for you both. :)

I made a pretty good haul this year. I got a new winter coat, an unbelievably warm electric shawl, a bodhran, and of course Santa left me a big box of chocolate cherries. There are more but that gives you a taste of how good my Christmas was.

Our Christmas was a bit different this year due to illness but we still celebrated and exchange little gifts. We don't really need anything as we get things for each other as needed. Dave did get a new belt..(which he knew about but waited until Christmas to use it.)
I got some favorite candies and a jar of orange marmalade, which is my favorite flavor.
Most of our gift giving to family was small this year . We did gift baskets that involved the whole family. Well appreciated.
Celebrations center around meals for us as our son is such a "foodie". That's perfectly fine with me.
Love your penguins (especially the dryer balls)
Love traditions.

I love all of your penguins and the frog. I have a set of dryer balls I got from free the ocean but have not used yet they said to wash them first before using in the dryer which I keep forgetting to do. takes any dye off the balls in the wash
Larry has gifted me some lovely things in the past-but at our ages now, we don't gift at Christmas time- we do surprises during the year though
I love the hand painted card-a treasure

Your frog and penguin are really cute! And I love the penguin dryer balls! I do use the wool balls in my dryer, but mine are plain ordinary white balls. I may have to look for something more interesting like yours! As far as gifts go, we do exchange some gifts, but hubby doesn't really shop for me. He never has quite gotten the knack of it, and so he leaves it up to me to pick out some things that I want and he will wrap them. I always act surprised. However, this year, I even did the wrapping. Just worked out easier that way. LOL . Our gifts are usually practical things that we need...he gets socks and t shirts, sometimes underwear. Sometimes a toy of some kind, and so do the kids get a toy...like nerf guns and then they have a battle. That's the fun stuff. Merry Christmas!! Happy New Year!

We have that same pickle ornament on our Christmas tree. That's because my husband went through a couple of years of practically being addicted to pickles. Since the kidney transplant that's gone away, but we still hand the pickle. I love all your frogs and penguins. They are fun and pretty cute!

G'day, Beatrice....I love the frog and the penguins! :) I hope you're having a Merry Christmas, enjoying the Season to the utmost. Take good care. :)

I'm finally able to blog again...not before time!!

Jenny and I haven't exchanged gifts for a while, partly because we've got all the things we need and gifts would be a bit superfluous.
I like all the cuddly toys, especially the penguins.
