This post is a follow-up to my previous one as it concerns travel.
(Thanks for all your comments on that post.)
I'm currently researching carry-on backpacks as one will be needed for our next big (another far-away) adventure. While, I wasn't expecting to increase my luggage, one of the pieces bought for the Amalfi, Italy, trip won't work the next time. These 2 pieces of bright-colored, lightweight American Tourister luggage were my checked and carry-on bag. The smaller bag wasn't convenient to carry up and down stairs and aisles of the air bus.
Wy won't the carryon work? For this upcoming trip, a smaller, portable carry-on is required as there's a lot of motor coach travel (details later). Measurements given by the tour company are similar to a carry-on backpack.
Of course, Amazon has endless choices and I've been checking online travel articles for suggestions. I came across this May 2023 article, The 15 Most Stylish Travel Backpacks for Women in 2023, on the Woman's Day website. Since my price range is $50 and under, imagine my surprise at the cost shown for the No. 4 best selling choice 😲.
At the very least it seemed that a trip should be included with this purchase! Of course, an error was made somewhere along the line. Amazingly, there's been no corection in the months since.
A clicking on the link to the company's website showed the correct price.
But, even at a savings of $9,702, this backpack will not be included in my purchase decision.
Enjoy Your Weekend, Everyone
Hope that you will be safe and dry from any effects of Hurricane Lee

I think the travel bug has bit hard. And why not?
Wow! That does seem a bit expensive, even the correct price seems pricey! I bet you will find a suitable and more affordable choice as you do your research. Can't wait to hear more about where the next journey will take you!! Exciting stuff!! Have a restful and lovely weekend.
That made me laugh! My son has a very expanding backpack which he uses for his trips away to the uk. Much easier than having to hold it. Looking forward to hearing where you are off to next . B x
It’s a long time since I bought my backpack so I’m not sure what they sell for these days, but the one you show looks like a good unit. But here’s a suggestion. Find a local store in your area and support them rather than Amazon. It’s the right thing to do.
Rain and wind here. Not a direct hit though. Hope everyone affected is safe.
You'd definitely want a darker one. This color would get to looking pretty crummy pretty quickly.
I'd research online and see if you can buy locally first. Then you could try it on and see more how it would feel. They do get very heavy though. I'd rather try to haul one with wheels up steps now and again than try a backpack with my back. ;)
I found a website years ago that has a huge list of luggage at a variety of prices high to low. The website was stuck inside another website. Not easy to chose. TJMaxx has a nice luggage section.
Whatever happened to proofreading?
When I was a student I bought a suitcase and when I got home I discovered two smaller bags inside. That error also went uncorrected.
for something like this, i think i would want to see it and feel it instead of ordering. its easy to return though. how about an army/navy surplus store, bet they have a lot of back packs.
Well, that's a little out of my price range (which is more like TJ Maxx!) I do think next time I travel, my personal item will be a backpack that will fit under the seat. Its hard to maneuver carrying a shoulder tote and pulling a carry-on bag at the same time!
This all sounds very exciting! The price was a shocker and someone at their headquarters isn’t paying attention. Hope you don’t get too much rain.
Someone made an error! You sure do get around, you have a really good life.
I'm looking forward to your next adventure..how exciting but oh my that backpack!!! Crazy no one caught the mistake.
White definitely isn't a good travel color but I do agree if you can find one locally to try on would be to your benefit. The straps can be so uncomfortable if they don't have good cushioning. My backpack for travel was bought years ago. It had so many zippered pockets in it that I had a hard time remembering what I put where. This was especially true when traveling in Kenya. All that to say..a backpack really is the way to go for coach travel.

I looked at travel backpacks a lot in the last few months. Usually I check a bag and use my old LL Bean light weight green backpack as a carry on. But I wanted something a little larger and more organized. I still don't have one, and I don't know what I can suggest because I still haven't decided what I like yet. How soon until you leave for the next big trip? hugs-Erika
It's odd how blatant mistakes like that manage to get through supposedly rigorous checking somewhere along the line. I know prices of so many things have shot up but $9,800 is a bit steep....
Hi Beatrice, We will never learn to pack lightly...or smartly. We are terrible at not packing the proverbial 'kitchen sink' when going on road trips. Currently we are facing a massive challenge, figuring out how we can pack light enough to make room in our SUV for my wife's sister and her husband's luggage on a trip we're doing together. Figuring it out will be stressful! Take Care, Big Daddy Dave
The Happy Wanderers are back home again, and eager to become Happy Wanderers wandering again! :)
this is pricy dear Dorothy
reminds me of when during our stay in Karachi hubby liked the suitcase so much it was of good brand if not best but too pricy for our budget ,we would often visit that Mall for grocery and hubby would take look of the thing each time but he had amazing self control to avoid buying thing he liked ,i would have bought it otherwise it was 80,000 rupees
.Happy returning to home dear friend . you are blessed to have chance to travel more indeed ,may this grace be upon always
Love the pink, as it would be easy to see on a conveyor belt; but can see why the carryon won't work for your upcoming trip. It looks almost as big as your regular luggage. Just got back from a tour of the UK, and the tour company strongly suggested backpacks for the coach; but I don't like using backpacks and just recently bought a very nice Travel Pro wheeled carryon that I wanted to use. It needed to be put below the bus with the regular luggage. My friend had the same luggage so hers did as well. It's a bit smaller than other rolled carryons I've used. But, she likes backpacks and brought one rolled up to use for the day to day; so we both used it. I've used rolled hand luggage on all my other tours and had room on the coach; but many tour company cram more seats in their coaches, which made it not possible to keep it at your seat at your feet. Will look forward to your future posts to see what's what. By the way, the other 2 tours I took were with Insight Vacations and they purposely remove several rows of seats in order to give my leg room for folks. It really makes a difference. The tour company I used for the UK trip was CIE, which I wouldn't recommend; in case that helps you as you're making your plans.
Traveling Suitcase
I've got one rolling case for travel, and a gym bag that gets used for laundry.that
