But what happens when we adults lose something (usually more important/valuable)?
We would hope that some good soul won't take the adage "finders-keepers" to heart and instead try to find the rightful owner of a misplaced (or lost) item. More often, the items adults tend to misplace tend to be more critical than a toy, like keys, phones, electronics or papers. If that happens, we can only hope (and pray a lot) that the item is found and returned
That's what happened twice this week.
Tuesday, I found a cell phone while walking to the post office. Long story short, the owner was located and the phone returned.
Wednesday morning, I discovered that I had
Which mean that while I was locating the phone's owner and returning a misplaced item, I was unaware that I had misplaced (forgotten?) something.
Hopeful (and a bit frantic too), I asked at the apt management office on Wednesday if anything had been turned in from the gym. YES, an unknown someone had not only found the Kindle but turned it in. There was no info on the "returnee" so I couldn't thank him/her personally, but did so many times in my heart! I have found out that it was a young man and asked the office staff to convey my appreciation.
Double Gratitude this week from myself and Bill (the phone's owner)
Just Wondering — Have YOU ever had a similar experience ?

Good for you both ways. No personal experience comes to my mind, however. Mind you, not much comes to my mind.
I've found that kindness repays kindness. Someone found the phone and returned it and you were repaid by someone finding the kindle and returning it to you. That's how it should always be but so often when we lose something the person finding it thinks they've won the lottery or something and takes off with it.
There are more honest people in the world than we think there are. It gives hope.
I've left a flashdrive behind on one occasion- and was happy that it was at the desk the following day when I inquired about it.
I haven't had an experience like this. I'm glad you got your Kindle back safely.
Glad to hear things worked out well. I haven't had an experience like this, but might faint if I lost my Kindle.
This is not a "pay it forward" story...but the most horrendous loss story was when I was traveling and decided to stop into an outlet mall. There must have been thirty stores and I wandered through most of them, only to find when I got back to my car that I had lost my keys. I panicked and then decided to methodically back track and it wasn't until I hit the LAST one that I saw my keys on top of a lovely angora sweater. PHEW !
Dropped my cell phone on the rocks on the mountain at Acadia in Maine. Someone found it and took it to the gift shop where I got it the next morning. Now an "ancient" cell phone, was brand new then, 2003, but it still works - as a phone, which is all I wanted it for. Has a tiny nick in the case from hitting the rocks. A sweet reminder of my last few days with my sister up in that park.
Have no idea who found it, just grateful they were honest.
No, and yet I have done some things, just because, and somehow good things did come my way.
I love love hearing stories like this... paying it forward is such a wonderful mantra to live by! It's so interesting how the two incidents happened back to back (but my experience has almost always been that karma works instantly :)
