Friday Funnies

Fill 'er up
Did you know that the snow is truck away here in Nashua, NH ?
Just like in these photos. A front loader was filling dump trucks with buckets of snow.

Why? To save it for a hot summer.

Of course, this isn't true. However, it was interesting to watch this operation in the parking lot of a local supermarket yesterday. The snow was being cleared from customer parking.

Where was all this snow going ?
It was bring trucked and dumped a short distance to another parking lot. This one was formerly used by a movie theater, which closed a few years ago so the lot is unused now.
A panorama photo showing the Nashua River and the mill apartments (far left) earlier this week. The photo was raken from the recently completed river walk.

As some of you may know, today, is the first of three Friday the 13th dates in 2026. The next one comes soon on  March 13 and the last is on November 13. Three is the maximum dates possible in one year.

The fear of the number 13 is triskaidekaphobia (or friggatriskaidekaphobia) while the specific fear of Friday the 13th is paraskevidekatriaphobia. (whew)

The superstition is often linked to 13 guests at the Last Supper (with Judas the 13th) and the crucifixion of Jesus on a Friday. Other roots include Norse mythology, where thee trickster god Loki was the 13th guest at a feast. Studies have not shown that Friday the 13th is no more dangerous than any other day.

Enjoy Your Weekend, Everyone
Skip the 13th. Celebrate the 14th with someone special

It's so strange for me to see that, as I've never heard of it being done around here. I'm surprised they spend the money on that.

I see many snow trucks here, and I am not sure where they dump it all. Some goes into an empty lot near us, but that can’t be all of it.

There are drought areas in the US...send some to them!

I like Barbara's comment, we have 6 years in drought, send us all the snow you can ship... or rain if you can figure out how. I have never seen that much snow or any in a dump truck...

Good morning, when we lived in northern Illinois before retiring to Missouri we got a lot of snow up there-and they did the same- truck if off to clear the cities and large parking lots.
that was interesting about Friday 13th had not heard those possibilities
Happy Friday and weekend coming up

We get snow carted away like that. Usually ends up in front of houses out of traffic. Often my house. One year our kitchen view was a snow mountain for a couple of months.

Nice that the snow could be moved somewhere out of the way.

It depends on how much snow there is. I haven't seen it dome but I know it is.

My dad's birthday was October 13th, and he was never happier than when it fell on a Friday. He used to say he was the luckiest man alive and then my mother would agree with him. Parents weirdness for sure.

Since I am so tired of snow at this point, I wonder if they would come and cart away all my snow? Ha ha. Now that would be something funny if it did happen. Have a super Friday and Valentine's Day. hugs-Erika

One day I will tell again the tale of my mother and Friday 13. My mother was hilarious and had no idea.

Shame the snow cannot be taken to your drought areas ...
Enjoy your weekend and Happy Valentines Day.

All the best Jan

Interesting that they just trucked the snow over to another parking lot! But I guess that's better than dumping it in the river or a lake or someplace like that, where it would cause some "issues' with pollution. I hope your major snowstorms are over for this winter. We are enjoying much milder weather right now, with the promise of some much needed rain maybe Sunday-Monday. Re: Friday the 13th...no problem for me. I really didn't even think about it although I did notice that it was the 13th. We've had a very peaceful and inconsequential day. Have a Happy Valentine's Day tomorrow!

We need those snow haulers in New York. There are still mounds of the stuff all around town.

I forgot that it Friday the 13th, which is good because I'm sure I would've let it get to me.

Now that's a lot of snow. Meanwhile, my CO bloggers are missing snow terribly this year!
