Friday Funnies

It never ceases to amuse me when I've been walking along and found a lone shoe or boot on the ground. This one made me think of a fairy tale and a song.

Can you figure out which ones?

Maybe, Cinderella lost her shoe and is awaiting her prince while humming Some Day My Prince Will ComeBut, I'll never know the rest of the story and, sadly, neither will you.

Enjoy Your Weekend, Everyone

Thanks, everyone for your comments about my recent walk through Edgewood Cemetery in Nashua, NH. It's one of my favorite places to walk through any time of year, especially fall.

Apologies to all as I've been a bit late in catching up on your blogs. I've been finishing up a homemade gift to send to family we're not seeing this holiday season and making holiday decos for our apt as well.  Next week my holiday 🎄card writing starts, which is something I really enjoy. This year, more than ever, many folks need a message of cheer. That said, I'd be happy to send you one, just email your name and address to the email on my blog.

A single shoe like that seems sinister somehow. Was some woman dragged off and lost a shoe, or was she fleeing? We will never know, and perhaps that's just as well.

As a kid, I did once lose a boot in a snowbank and had to walk home bootless. I did recover it come spring. I feel like I once blogged about it, but I can't find it now, so maybe I didn't, and maybe I should.

OMG, I feel the same way about things I find on the ground; especially living in a city. I'm AMAZED! And not only things that I see, but crazy things I witness happening in front of me on the streets. LOL!

Whenever I see something like one shoe on the sidewalk, I first think, "WHERE is the other shoe? And didn't the person realize their shoe came off?" But then I realize that perhaps they had their shoes in carry-bag and one fell out without them realizing it.

And yes, that is the exact fairy tale I thought of when I saw your photograph of the shoe....Cinderella!

Thanks for the funny, my friend. Have an awesome weekend!

Yup, I thought of Cinderella. Maybe a puppy was playing with the shoe and wandered off with it. Hmmm??? You have a wonderful day, hugs, Edna B.

of course the glass slipper lost by Cinderella was foremost in my mind. this show looks brand new, doesn't appear to be worn out. maybe a child threw it out the car window? i smiled when I read David's comment, about sinister thoughts. I lean that way on a lot of things but for some reason did not on this one. maybe it fell off the goodwill truck? was this by a road or out in the woods? I mean who wears heels in grass and leaves?

Quite a conundrum! I too have seen the stray shoe, stray glove, car keys, sunglasses. We all lose things but you'd think if it were your shoe you'd quickly take a look where it may be.

A single shoe? I hope a person isn't missing in addition to the shoe!

Beatrice, My wife and always marvel at the number of shoes, both single and pairs that we spot along the roadways every year. Back in my day it would happen in the summer time when you hung your wet sneakers off the car door handle to dry on your way back from the lake. Not too sure about his high heel shoe though... It is a mystery for sure. It might be fun to make up a story to fit the situation.

This reminds me of a shoe I found when out walking a few years back. Found it in a gutter and always wondered if the person was getting out of a car after a night of drinking or trying to get away from someone. Strange things that you find every now and then.
Enjoy your weekend!

Hmm I wonder what the story behind this single shoe is.
Sometimes I see pairs of old sneakers hanging from power lines. 😊

Must have been in a hurry and left that shoes behind..one wonders why it's there.

I hope the one shoe has a fun story behind it and not a sinister one!

Hope Cinderella made it home okay. Getting a start on my cards next week. Still working on my boxes. I'll email you my address. Thanks!

Young ladies attending night clubs often wear uncomfortably high heels and take them off and walk home either barefoot of in slippers carried in their handbag. Or so I was told by some of my young work colleagues. Easy to drop a shoe on the way home.
However I did once find a shoe like that half way up a mountain - that one I can't explain!

I've just returned...after counting my shoes...and pairing them up...I've not lost any...and I've not attended any balls in many a long year! :)

I'll keep my eye on the pumpkin in my kitchen, though..just in case!

My guess is a woman who suddenly took a dislike to her shoes and simply discarded them. If you had a good look round, you'd probably find the second one nearby.

As for old sneakers hanging from power lines, I always understood it meant drug dealers in the vicinity. Or it marks the territory of a local gang.
