In the past few months, we've had some colorful blooms at The Frog & PenguINN, our VA eastern shore home.
These yard blooms are watched over the the ever-present Welcome frogs. Don't let their
dour expressions put you off as they are really quite friendly (and very quiet too).
After moving to VA from our native NJ, we had a very large vegetable garden in our backyard. There were 5 beds (each 12 feet wide x 50 feet long). Several years later, we went to a much smaller space as seen in this photo. We have NO veggie garden now and go to seasonal farmer's markets weekly to stock up on local produce.
The nearly all perennials in the backyard now require far less maintenance than the former veggie gardens.
Do you have any veggies or flowers in your gardens ?

No veggies here. The phlox in the third pic is identical or nearly so to the one in our garden. Ours is a dwarf type; I don't know about yours. I love phlox. They are my faves with those big blooming heads.
We have some blooming plants scattered around and a little herb garden on the deck. But we live very near two excellent produce markets. Yummy fresh veggies without any work. Love your flowers.
Very pretty flowers! I don't have a vegetable garden due to slugs. I don't have any flowers due to bees. Lol.
Your flowers are beautiful! I love perennials.
Farmer's Markets are way easier than growing your own!
no veggies here either, just flowers. Very pretty photos.
Your photos of your flowers are wonderful. I like the grouping of them with great design. You climate off of the coastline brings you wonderful results. You can't beat having the Atlantic Ocean keeping your flowers fresh and vibrant.
Very pretty!
Gorgeous photos/flowers! Cute frog, too. :)
The flowers are all so pretty. And the farmers' market is a lot less work than a garden.
We downsized our veggie garden considerably from NY to VA. I now have six raised beds and I'm thinking of doing the same thing you did- planting flowers in them next year.(and herbs) With the prolific amount of Farmers Markets, fresh organic produce is easily accessible.
Your flowers are beautiful!
nope, no veggies here, not mine anyway, but some plots belong to other residents. Are you back visiting the house in Va?
Gorgeous flowers!! Those frogs remind me a little of Olive the Pug. Often people think she's sad or put off, but she's just the happiest little creature. Just because the mouth is turned down, it doesn't mean the heart is.
