This temporary lodger is nesting in this front yard red cedar tree. It's not the first time that this little tree has hosted a family. In the past few years, several robin families found this an ideal spot.Only the female robin can brood the eggs which will hatch 12 to 14 days after incubation Both the male and female robin parents then play an active role in feeding the baby robins (called chicks) and will spend almost every hour searching for food, then returning to the nest every few minutes all day long, sunrise to sunset.
Th chicks will leave the nest (fledge) about 14 to 16 days after hatching. We expect to see these young robins hopping around the yard until their wings are strong enough for flight. Meanwhile, the adult robins will be hovering close by, feeding and protecting them until they become self-sufficient — just like most parents.

we once had robins nest in a hanging plant on the patio. But I probably said this last year. :)
We have robins and lots of other birds nesting in our Cedar hedges . I love it ! Thanks for sharing , Have a good weekend !
I saw a robin in our back yard yesterday. I'm fairly certain she has a nest nearby, but I'm not sure where. She was keeping a close eye on me. :)
We don't have any Robins nesting nearby...None that I've seen yet. It's so fun to watch the babies.

Aside from the usual squirrels and birds, a short walk away on campus I'll regularly be seeing groundhogs and rabbits.

That's a sweet up-close picture. I have many cardinals and Carolina wrens.
How pretty. Yes, we have many bird families in both our front and back yards. We also have one over the lion over one of our bedroom windows. We hear the little babies chirping now. So sweet.
The cats can reach most places in the garden so I haven't seen any nests there but the sparrows nest under the tiles and I think they are on their second bunch now.

A diligent mom there! I'm keeping a lookout for the Robins to arrive here, but haven't seen one yet. They are pretty good at hiding their nests in the woods, so I don't get to enjoy watching the little ones.
