Friday Funnies

Today it's another double-header just for the fun of it cause sometimes you gotta laugh.

Starting with a really BAD day on the roadway for the fellow carrying this load. We came upon this scene right after the hay bales had fallen off the trailer.

Making the best of recent heavy rainstorms, this robin was splishing and splashing.

Thanks to everyone who commented on our We Took a Trip post. Our destination was Alexandria, VA, less than 4 hours from home. Photos posted were from Old Town, the city's historic district, often called George Washington's adopted hometown. We had a great 2-day get-away; future posts will highlight a few places visited.

Enjoy YOUR weekend.

This is a holiday weekend in the U.S. which on Monday observes Memorial Day, a federal holiday. This weekend is traditionally seen as the start of the summer season.

Formerly called Decoration Day, Memorial Day commemorates men and women, who have died in military service for the U.S. It originally started as an event to honor Union soldiers killed during the Civil War. After World War I, it was extended to include all men and women who died in any war or military action.

It is traditional to fly the U.S. flag at half mast from dawn until noon. Many volunteers place an American flag on graves in national cemeteries.

Hey Dorothy, I didn't know about the half mast dawn till noon tradition.
The whole falling bales thing reminds me of a friend who, unfortunately, was right behind a paint contractor's truck when all the all the paint cans fell out. It was colorful to say the least!

Not everyone gets to photograph hay on the road.

Wonderful post, poor chap in the first and hope it was cleared up before night time! Enjoy your weekend. We will be spending time with old friends on Sunday who moved out of town several years ago and are now up here for a wedding. We are looking forward to seeing them, it's been about three years since their last visit.

I loved the photos in the previous post. So, it was Alexandria, VA. Interesting. My sister lives in Virginia, also, but I can't remember which town.

That's definitely a day off to a bad start.

I laughed out loud when I saw that first photo :-) They tend to drop them here to but not that many at the same time :-)

Have a great day!

Many members of my family served in the military. My brother was not as fortunate as most of them. He died in Viet Nam. For all military personnel past and present, THANK YOU for protecting our freedoms.

I was thinking the same thing as your other commentor ... did you stop and help them get the bails back on the truck?????

Poor truck driver, I hate when that happens ;)

Did you help? I would have, if only to slow down traffic until the poor guy got his load back on his truck. Or at least call 911 since the road was blocked.
What a shame.

I would love to help place the flags some day. Honored, really. God bless them for their sacrifice.
