We appreciate all visits and comments. Yes we were in Damariscotta, MA and in the top collage, the first church steeple (looks like a castle) was taken there. We didn't stop in Boothbay or Boothbay Harbor, maybe next visit :-) e really enjoyed our Maine road trip and plan to revisit.

We currently live on the VA eastern shore (transplants from NJ). Where is your Maine home and which VA school do you attend? Drop in again anytime and thanks for the visit.Beatrice P. In October, Grenville did doors, windows, even manhole covers and I did lighthouses. It became a challenge to see how many of the each item we could find on our daily outings. You might even see some series closer to home now that we'vre back. Glad you enjoyed the post.

Hi Country Mouse, it's surprising how many there were - every town had churches, city halls or other buildings with steeples. Sadly you don't see many new buildings as beautiful as most of the ones we saw.Beatrice P. I can honestly say it's a good thing it was that kind of steeple chase because if it had involved a horse he would have been a "Dead Horse". LOL! I really enjoyed taking a look at all the steeples and it was very clever of you to montage them like you did.Scott Lawhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/10987812136291082288noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1504757647826212517.post-40247122976757082402010-11-06T07:52:37.349-04:002010-11-06T07:52:37.349-04:00Greetings - Costas, Elaine, Possum, Lois, Mona, An...Greetings - Costas, Elaine, Possum, Lois, Mona, Anvil Grammie, Out on the Prairie, Christer - glad you enjoyed the steeple pics. All were amazing from simple to ornate. I noticed that most church steeples and city halls were white; although some of city halls had brickwork too.

Yes, Lois, we were lucky to have good weather when these were taken, even cloudy days made steeples more dramatic.

Grammie the "ghost" in city hall top was in Saco, Maine. And I could ID where each was taken by going back and checking the folders on my PC, so if you need to know where a certain one is located, just let me know.

Possum, agreed there is no comparison between these Maine steeples and church tops on the eastern shore.

And the last one is my favorite too. Imagine my surprise when I discovered that many of the churches here on the shore were built like brick fortresses instead, with battlements on the roof and not a steeple in sight, like they were more concerned with fighting than communing with God.
Great shots, as usual!possumhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/03912443125826672230noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1504757647826212517.post-30252301407384934852010-11-05T04:24:53.008-04:002010-11-05T04:24:53.008-04:00Fantastic set of steeples!
