Friday Funnies

Careful, it's Friday the 13th, so here's a few funnies to start the day . . .

Snow song? — Don't Fence Me In

Then and now: Same sign after 2 weeks and snow piles are going down
Snow Sculptures . . .

It's amazing what can be learned by some Internet surfing . . .

  • Yes, this is the second one for 2015 and right after Feb 13. For those planning ahead, the next (and final) one in 2015 falls on November 13.
  • The year 2015 started on a Thursday. Whenever a common year of 365 days starts on a Thursday, it’s inevitable that the months of February, March and November will start on a Sunday. Any month starting on a Sunday always has a Friday the 13th.
  • This February-March-November Friday the 13th trilogy repeats often. The last sequence was in 2009 for the first time in the 21st century. It happens again in 2026, 11 years away.
  • Scared of Friday the 13th?  There's a name for folks who fear the date —  friggatriskaidekaphobia (Friday is named for Frigga is the Norse goddess of fertility and love). Christians called Frigga a witch and referred to Friday as the witches’ Sabbath.

Enjoy your weekend !

First picture: Just a question. Is there land, lots of land and a starry sky above on the other side of that fence?
Last picture: Obvious to me somebody is recreating Mt. Rushmore in snow.
Eastern Maryland is finally losing the snowpack. Down to some stubborn patches and piles of the icy stuff in shady spots.
Just getting back to blogging. Will email soon.
:) m & jb (who is thrilled "that ikkky slidy white stuff gone!!!")

Hi Maureen, the first photo was taken Thurs afternoon in a NH parking lot where the snow was piled against a chain link fence. The last photo of the snow sculpts was I believe a by product of snow piles and melt downs as the temps did warm up considerably this week. And, there are still lots of snow piles and melting which also freezes overnight. Predictions are for messy weather again this weekend, more rain and possible freezing rain than snow...just as bad.
Welcome back to blogging and hope to hear from you!

Spring is starting to show itself here too.

There's a small town in southern Ontario, each Friday the 13th (winter notwithstanding) has bikers come by the thousands for the day. I wonder if they're down there today.

Your snow is melting quickly but it will still take some time. Happy Friday the Thirteenth to you.

I don't like snow, having lived in NYC for 5-1/2 years. It is snowing on the volcanoes on Maui and the Big Island, too.

LOL. I love your snow pics. Yes, the piles are diminishing...slowly but surely. A friend complained that now we can see all the dog poop in the yard. Oh, well... you take the bitter with the sweet. Friday the 13th is a lucky day for us. Our daughter was born on Friday the 13th in July, 1984.

Thankfully I don't suffer from that :-) On the contrary, Friday 13th has often been lucky days for me.

I didn't know that fact at all, thank You!

Have a great day!
Christer.

Good to see the great thaw is happening where you are Beatrice,...finally! :) Interesting facts about the dates, and as for having Friggatriskaidekaphobia, the date always reminds me of the wretched Friday, the 13th horror movies - eeek!

Drove past your house yesterday... your daffodils are up about 6 inches... buds showing. Hope to be picking mine before this time next week.
Enjoy your snow you wanted so bad!

Raining here, 50 degrees... going up to 60 again today. I am loving it.

Very interesting! The snow is beginning to get dirty..heaven's but you folks got a lot! I've had a few bloggers write and say that it's pretty at first then gets dirty.
Where does all the water go? What a Winter you folks had. We heard about it nightly on the news. It was in the 90's here today. Not happy about that at all. It's too soon.
Take good care, my friends!
