Mom's 91 (and Counting)

That’s what this Sept 9 was for my mom; also the reason for our weekend road trip. We visited with daughter and son-in-law, Coleen and Paulo in PA before heading to Plainfield, NJ, my hometown. Mom is still living in her own house, although she has slowed down and now has daily assistance.mom bday0912Some photos from her  90th party last year. My brother (shown in the center photo) visited before we arrived, and had to return to painting his house. Also shown are myself (Dorothy/Beatrice), Pat (Grenville) and mom’s granddaughters (Julie and Jamie).

This year’s celebration was very low-key. A (camera-shy) family friend visited during the afternoon, also my cousin, Rick, delivered a very edible arrangement. What’s NOT to like about fresh fruit — dipped in chocolate !mom bday 090913Coincidentally, Rick and I share the same Feb birthday and may co-celebrate this year as we’re both reaching milestones.
Just remember, once you're over the hill you begin to pick up speed.

I’m hoping that my mom’s proclivity for longevity is in my genes.

Yay for Mom. Lee grandmother lived to be 105 and she was still playing the slots at 104!

Looks like your mom had a lovely day. I think low-key is the very best way to celebrate your birthday.

She looks wonderful but glad to hear she has assistance at home...and hope she has social activities too. The interaction with people is so important...and a very happy belated birthday to her..

Glad you got to spend the day with your mom.
I was reminded of the quote:
"Hill? What hill? I didn't see any hill!"
