Pretty in Pink, Yellow, Orange

pink collage
Labor Day may signal the end of summer for many, especially school children, but blooms remain plentiful and colorful in The Frog & PenguINN gardens.
butterflies collageorange collageyellow collageDSCN1311The wildflower meadow is the most colorful now in full bloom. Coreopsis is the predominant flower here with yellow blooms . . .Coupled with various shades or orange . . .Butterflies, especially Eastern Yellow Swallowtails, are finding this a plentiful nectar source with up to a dozen fluttering by at once. Here on the VA eastern shore, we also still have summer-like temps and high humidity; the mosquito population remains very active.

Has summer come to an end for you ?

Oregon typically has excellent weather in September. This week the highs will be only in the 70s and there is a chance of light rainfall one or two days. But next week is back to the 80s with low humidity. Anyone planning to visit Oregon should come in September or October. The pine needles are falling in our back yard which is the first sign of Fall.

Our weather changed from very muggy to cool overnight, so it is feeling a bit fall-ish. Not much happening in the garden anymore.

Most of my blooms were destroyed in the hail storm a while back. Nice to see you still have colour. Speaking of storms, the last two nights we've had amazing lightning and thunder ... quite the show! Only rain this time round ... no hail.
