Twisting and Turning

That was what our Jeep was doing as we took backroads after getting off the major highways in Virginia, Maryland, and Delaware. This was the first road use of our new GPS and it displayed a scenic route that would be the shortest one that avoided major highways.

And, it did leading us on a roller coaster ride of roadways that just don't exist on the VA eastern shore.

Another plus of backroads is seeing the numerous farms and Amish tending their fields.

Hi B..Love the back roads so much to see!!
The Amish working farm photos, and the barns and such are great...seems like such a peaceful and calming life ...unless you live there and have all that hard work to do ; }
Happy GPS-ing!!

Maybe you have a nostalgic and romantic GPS that loves to roll around the country side! It is always worth the trip with such views like this!

I love roads like that and I know some but since I always drive I never get any photographs :-)

Have a great day!

Just love back roads. We took some today coming home from an outlet mall. We saw some great sights out there on the back roads.

Your pictures are wonderful. Just love the ones of the Amish farmers.

I love taking the scenic route. I bet it was fun going through the Amish country. We have Amish in some parts of Ohio too.

Looks like your GPS found some lovely roads for you! Exactly the kind we choose whenever possible, only we use the MAP system, as you know. Your collages are lovely! FYI, I really wanted to enlarge the collages but I couldn't. Perhaps MarsEdit doesn't allow you to do enlargements, a drawback to my way of thinking.

Love your collages and the post in general.

Taking the quieter and less-traveled toad is more fun by far.

We prefer the major roads off the interstates when possible too, but avoid the very back unknown ones which might cause problems with our big rig MH & tow vehicle, especially if there are bridges with inadequate height access... Looks like you snapped some lovely photos. I love the Amish shots in particular.

See that farm discing with 6 head ... Mom used to do it with 12 on a one way disc ... 6 and 6! Interesting to see a picture of it as she didn't have any. When she first started telling me about it and I actually listened, I had a hard time visualize how it would be. I finally found one picture on the internet that looked similar to yours with 6 horses.
