White and Red Farms

This week as we've travelled through the Lancaster, PA countryside, my pocket-size digital camera has always been along too. Like fellow blogger Sandra, MadSnapper, I've been shooting lots of photos, just because . . .

This area is surrounded by numerous working farms, and I tried to capture as many as possible while Grenville drove.

Nearly every farm had a herd of dairy cows and other livestock.

Most of the farm buildings were white, so a challenge was to look for another color, like red.

What perfectly beautiful country! I have to tell you, that is scenery you seldom see in California. The dairies out here are terrible. The cow are all penned up and standing in their own waste. I hate it. That's the way cows SHOULD be treated.
I loved the photo's. How I would love to live in an area like that.
Love,
Mona

Have you seen any pink barns? I think there's one in Rapho Township. When I was a kid, there were quite a few. Always thought it was very strange!

My thoughts are with you today! Our daughter's wedding is only 2 weeks away!

Lovely collection of images. I, too, click the camera as My Honey drives. Sometimes I get some good ones, other times, well, I don't. ;)

Unpainted is probably the dominant barn style around here.

Neat collages, Beatrice. Those barns lend charm to the landscape, I think. :)

When I lived at the coast there was one "prairie" area where there were a lot of milk cows. I would often bicycle out in that area. These pictures look similar.
