Surreal Sunset

Our ride home from NJ on Sunday was relatively easy, considering all the hype about possible traffic delays.

Our special after-holiday treat was seeing this spectacular sunset.

These were taken from inside the car using the “vivid” setting on my Canon PowerShot SX130IS camera.

I was experimenting with the settings; no other changes were done. It amazes me that I can have such fun using a point & shoot type digital camera, after previously owning a couple of digital SLRs.

Today was cyber-Monday but we did not do any online shopping. Instead, we worked on going through “stuff” and sorting “stuff” to be tossed out or donated to local thrift stores.

Did YOU shop online today – for yourself or others?

Nice shots!

Must be somethin' in the air - I've spent 2 days cleaning barns! Perfect weather for it - and NO mosquitoes!

Yes, or maybe it was yesterday. Sent a book to someone -- but it was a birthday and the book was not on sale.

A lovely catch, I am greeting more sunrises with my schedule.

You were right on that being my granddaughter, Audrey Rose Kennedy.

Beautiful pictures, Beatrice! Just the other day I told my husband that I didn't want anything for Christmas. I said the best gift for me would be if we could sort through some of the stuff we already have and donate it to someone else. We have too much clutter!

What gorgeous pictures of the sunset! No, I didn't do any shopping. I have too much stuff already and we don't exchange gifts.

Possum, maybe the warm weather has us thinking that it's "spring" cleaning. We have cleared out lots of stuff in 1 day with more to go, but it's a start. Where did all this stuff come from???

AC, we're doing the gift card route for some family members.

Hi Sandra, yes these "gifts" are better than any store-bought ones and to think that they keep giving every day of the year (almost). We're planning to get a tree this weekend.

Christine, and winter sunsets sure come earlier than those summer ones!

Thanks Lois and Christer. Glad you enjoyed these.

Ludwig, clever comment - wish I'd thought of that. Thanks for the visit and compliment!

Thanks Ancient One.

Hey Steve, we are being far too lazy to catch the sunrises, even though we're heading out early to go exercise at the "Y." Your granddaughter is beautiful and what a lovely name. She's a wonderful subject too!

Daisy, we could not agree more on having too many things! We're starting to clear out "stuff." Some of it is being recycled or tossed out; other "stuff" that's good (but not needed or used) is going to the local thrift stores for others to enjoy. We're giving each other the "gift" of spending Christmas at home alone together.

Beautiful pics.

No, I did not shop on-line today.

I NEED to get down in my crawl space and clean it up. Gotta, gotta, gotta. Yuck!

Hi Chip, thanks for the visit and kind words.

Eileen, glad you enjoyed the photos. Getting started when sorting thru stuff is the hardest part, but we are on a roll this week. Boxes of usable "stuff" will be taken to a local thrift store today. Good luck on getting started with your crawl space clear out. Not shopping saved us money too,

I didn't shop online today..but patient husband did. He bought a gift for one of our grandsons..so yes..we did shop online today.

After my little weekend shopping trip..I'm not allowed to be out of his sight! :)

How I would love to have a camera like yours..but not this year.
Santa is broke now! :)

Thank you so much for your kind comment... :) How did we get so lucky to find "blogland"..??
Hugs,
Mona

Thanks Kathleen and Mona (Montanagirl) for your kind words. The sunsets did turn out better than expected. We did not do any shopping on either day or this week as we are still working on clearing out stuff.

Mona, thanks for your visit. I enjoyed reading about your shopping excursion to find those new chairs. The camera I am using most these days was not very costly and on sale was under $150 and there is already a "newer" model, but this one is working just fine. Maybe Patient Husband or Santa will surprise you this year. We are indeed lucky to have found bogland and each other.
