Boat, Stove and Catalogs

What do these things have in common you might be wondering.

Actually nothing.

One is for sale, one is new, some are not wanted.
Can you figure out which is which?
deck boat (1)
Yes, the (deck ) boat is for 4 sale – and it’s on eBay. This is the first time I’ve listed anything that couldn’t fit into a box and be mailed – this sale is for pick-up only. As of tonight it’s gotten 399 views with 15 watchers, auction ends in 4 days.
Grenville bought this boat a couple of years with hopes of exploring some of the marshland areas. Last year, it needed an engine overhaul; this year it went unused with other projects going on. We’re hoping someone will give it a good home – someplace other than our back yard.

new stove914 (7)Something new is a stove, which we bought today. The one that was in the Frog & PenguINN when we bought this house in 2003 finally gave out this week. You know something’s not quite right when it’s been 20 minutes and the oven isn’t even warm yet. And, that casserole that’s all ready to go won’t be getting cooked anytime soon. Luckily, a neighbor lent us her oven. Thanks, Mary.

Grenville and I both enjoy cooking, cleanup not so much. WOW this is a self-cleaning model with a broiler in the oven, not on the bottom. Now if it was also a self-cooking model too.

We’re not shy to admit that we do have brand loyalty and repeat buy from companies whose products have worked well for us without costly repairs – for major appliances, that’s Maytag – fridge,  washer/dryer, and now stove. Here’s the best part of our new stove:new stove914 (4)
That leaves the not wanted items as – catalogs! They DO multiple quickly. Just order one item and you’ll get catalogs from not only that company but similar companies too.
catalogs (6)
How do you get off these catalog distribution list?
Do you call the companies?

We call and are usually told we could get a couple more as mailings are done in advance. But, we’ll keep recycling them until they stop coming. Hopefully, soon.

The catalogs you don't want keep coming forever, but the ones you do like and even order from only mail you one or two. Never quite figured that one out.

We get five pounds (seriously) of catalogs every single day! They sure have our number (or address).

ELaine, ain't that ALWAYS the case with lots of things.

Mona, makes for lots of recycling but that sure is a LOT of catalogs to read through - do you?

I hope you can find a buyer for your boat and get a good price for it. The stove looks nice. You really can't do without one. :-)

The two happiest days in a boat owners life are when s/he buys the boat and when s/he sells the boat.

Daisy, thanks we hope the right buyer (any one) comes along as well. We're up to nearly 600 views and 18 watchers on ebay.

AC, you got that right and forgot to add that while owing it, a boat is like a large hole that you keep pouring $$ into.
