McGone

A Friday Funnies post last week showed a 1980s era local McDonald’s  being demolished to make way for a super-sized eatery over the next several months.

Both shots were taken within 2 days from the same location .

McDonald's razingMcD GONE0626 (1)It’s amazing how quickly demolition takes compared to construction.

Our local McD's was demolished a couple of years back to make way for a new and improved version. Now we hear they're going to improve that!

Demolition is always lots faster than building.

Amazing. I remember the excitment when it was built in the late 70s.
Having attended classes in a University that was built BEFORE Columbus even set sail across the Atlantic, I am always amazed at the temporary mentality of builders in this country.
Sort of an Easy Come, Easy Go kind of feeling.

I know I wish time would stand still, nothing wrong with progress but there are times you just want something to remain that you grew up with...its comforting. When they wanted to tear down the FOX theater to make way for a parking lot the city was in shock so a fund raising began and it was saved.

Hum, will they build a new and imroved McDonalds?

Hi ALL, from your comments it seems that no one would sorely miss a McD.

Great comment, AC! Larry, folks will be able to get fries again, but will have to wait awhile. Yes, Tammy they are rebuilding (sigh). But good to hear your Fox theatre was saved. Hey Possum, it's amazing what will excite some local folks. Hi CHip, not sure if its progress to tear down, rebuild, and tear down again, but it keeps lots of folks working.
Yes, it was wquick, Mona, Elaine & Daisy and most likely was done within a day, but I didn't go past it until a couple of days after the first shots.
