Happy Mardis Gras Weekend to ALL!!!!

And what a weekend it has been here at the F&P. Yesterday was a fun filled day of ‘patio pulling up and re-laying’ for me and some serious weeding for Beatrice along with regular yard chores. The patio we laid last year in the wild flowers was over taken by the wild flowers so i decided that it needed to be realigned and made a little bigger. The first attempt mad100_0434e a month ago was a dismal failure due to rushing the project and a lack of sand for the base. This time i had 21 bags of sand (and used it all). AND now the pavers are facing the correct direction and the high spots have been removed. AND the audio connections were completed so the shop radio now goes all the way to the ’Wild Patio’. The rock in the upper right corner is one of the speakers.
Of course lets not forget what spring in the country is famous for…. ‘Manure Season’ or as we fondly term it for the tourists ‘Ode De S100_0435pring’. We only got 240 lbs this trip since the poor truck was loaded with 1000 lbs of sand. Wednesday we will pick up the rest and hopefully get it spread and tilled in next week.
Being Mardis Gras weekendSAM_1194 we went to our favorite restaurant SAM_1196

“Annie’s, where butter is a food group” for their Mardis Gras special buffet. There’s not many placeSAM_1198s here on the  shore (none to be exact) where you  can get fresh home made CRAWFISH ETOUFFEE. Now i am not a big CRAWDADDY fan, at least not when i have to suck them out of the shell, BUT Chef Matt’s Etouffee was great. And lets not forget the blackened Catfish, Jambalaya, Gumbo, and Fried Gator. All topped off with some King Kake (neither of us got the baby). As always, i over ate and on leaving told Chef Matt he had to stop cooking as good as we do or i would never loose weight. He said NO!!!!!
Breakfast this morning was our usual Sunday Treat  (as if we really neeIMG_6234ded another after last night) of pancakes. Today’s were Cranberry  Pancakes. Almost as good as ones right out of the Bogs at DoublIMG_6235e Trouble NJ.

So what is up for today?????? Some serious digesting, reading, relaxing (raining here today) then off to the ‘Y’ and a long soak in the Hot Tub after yesterdays fun, and a quick stop at Wally-World on the way home. Tonight is Chicken Bean Soup, Fresh Spinach Salad, and fresh Wheat Bread. Watch for Beatrice’s post. Hope that your Sunday is a great Sunday.

So it´s Mardis Gras weekend now! I thought that was later in spring. The food looked delicious!

No weeding up here yet thankfully. But as it looks now we´ll get an early spring so it won´t take long until I have to start weeding too :-)

Have a great day now!
Christer.

I'll pass on the work and the seafood, but please pass me a helping of cranberry pancakes.

My goodness, I gained weight just reading your post! It all looks pretty good except those crawfish. I can pass on those. ;)

Mardis Gras is the week before Ash Wednesday which starts Lent. That is this Wednesday i think Christer. I just emailed you some pancakes AC. Watch for them. So sorry Lois. BUT i too will pass on the Crawfish. I made up for it with Fried Gator. We may start raising them (not).

Hey Grenville.. I sure am glad to see you have been doing a lot of physical exercise that at least balances of one food group (butter) hahaha!!
Now those cranberries in the pancakes that's good...as for the rest of the pancake...lol!!
It would have been a beach day here today (40 degress)lol ,but then it had to go and rain..better than a day shoveling snow!!

I like the looks of the patio. I showed the picture to my husband, as he would like to lay down a similar one in our back yard for our wooden swing.

A patio done right is always a lot more work than you think it will be. Fortunately you found some good ways to help you forget your sore muscles.

Grammie, So glad you almost had a beach day. We would have had a 'Sand Blast Day' with all the wind here. Your right Daisy, and my sore legs are reminders. We have sort of the same idea Linda, but with some sort of shade for the sun. Doing nothing Sunday and hitting the Hot Tub at the Y was the answer Elaine.

Beatrice, I send you an email about this post. Have not heard back from you. Please check your spam folder - my message is probably buried there.

Hi Ludwig, sorry for not getting back to you, but the comment went to my email and not as a comment :-( I sent you an email reply from there. Thanks so much for your feedback.
