Y is not the question!!!!

At least that’s what the radio ad says. So yesterday after much discussion, soul searching, weighing and re-weighing myself (the weight never changed) we re-joined the local YMCA. We had been members the first summer we lived here but September came and classes starting again. Since we were back in NJ most of the time, keeping the membership up seemed a waste. Also supporting two houses, one with a mortgage, made dropping the membership a fiscal need.

BUT those Christmas pounds needed to come off. Cold weather, ice, snow, a warm comfy bed, made  early morning walks (or any time for that matter) difficult and rather unpleasant. And the thought of hot weather in July and August sort of tipped the scales to joining.

Today was our first day. Lots of new toys since we were members long ago. I’m still looking for the machine that you hook yourself to and it works the pounds off you while napping. I think they have it in a hidden room.

Now instead of just one TV on the wall each machine has one built in. AND they all have cable so there are lots of channels with nothing worth watching. I tried to find the food channel but it was not there. I wonder why??? Can you gain calories just from watching???? Luckily i found the music channels so it wasn’t to bad.

I’ve always like the elliptical steppers so that was first. 30 minutes on that an i was ready to sit for a while. Next was the super bike where you can pick a route to ride and watch a video of your progress. I couldn’t find the button to fire the guns at the other bikers that kept passing me. Maybe next time. Then over to the Cross Country Ski machine. Not as much fun as the real thing but a heck of a lot warmer.

The finale of the day was a dip in the hot tub. By then i really needed it. For some reason Beatrice would not come with me. I told her she could wear my rubber ducky life ring.

So we have begun another new (and hopefully not to painful) adventure. The nice thing is that we probably know 50% of the folks that are members (remember our whole county only has 50K people).

The part about the hot tub was the best! It's always hard to keep up an exercise routine.

The only thing I´ve ever liked to do was running. But with my two hip implants I´m not allowed to do that any longer (They have tried an experimental method on my hips since I was way to young to get hip protheses). So now days I use a rowing machine I have here at home and I think I like it :-)

Have a great day now!
Christer.

I put my bike where my tree was, so not to waste the space on a catch al chair.

OH Me, I do not like exercising. I try really I do. my Hubby loves it and we have tons of exercise equipment to fall over(my exercise)most anywhere. I started to paint what I ate yesterday...I've been trying(?YES)since Christmas but then realized the little couple of scoops here... would be too revealing. So I will start again today.. if you should find that machine that works when napping please email me. thanks, Diana

Yes mam bug, the hot tub was the best. OUCH Christer. Two replacements. I used to love running too but torn ligaments put a stop to that :-(. We gave up on home equiptment Steve. It too became a catch-all. Painting your food Diana???? What flavor paint did you use????? :-)
So far since we got home i have shed 7 pounds. AND if i find the'secret room' wiht the napping machine i'll let you know. I may have a new proto type piece here soon.

OOOOO! If you ever manage to locate that machine (you know...the one that does it all for you while you lie back and dream sweet dreams!) PLEASE let me know. At the moment that's the only one that's going to inspire me to lose weight, I'm afraid :(

Good luck to you both - I'm very impressed with your determination and dedication - could you bottle some of that for me, perhaps? I could gulp a few mouthfuls each morning before I get started around here ;)

Glad you guys are having so much fun... I wasted a year's membership. Got in the pool a couple of times and did more damage to my back - so, that ended that. Plus, to be honest, the over powering stench of chlorine just about did me in.
Let me know if you find that hidden room... I might renew.

As soon as i find the 'secret room' i will pass it along Desiree, Possum, and Country Mouse. I know what you mean Possum. Our first time i went for swimming and tore my shoulders up. Now it is just the bikes and walkers.

When you find that machine that removes pounds while you're napping, let me know! ;)

Good for you. And it's good that you are doing it together. I don't have the discipline that it takes to keep it up ... let us know how it progresses.

Well it sounds like you and Beatrice had a wonderful, eventful day. M & B are still waiting for the bathroom to get done. Will have to send picture. Can't wait for both of you to see our new room. martymom
