What to do on a snowy day?????

As the last post says, it’s ********SNOWING******** here on the Eastern Shore. Not everyone is as happy as we are but then again we are “those damn YanAnnies (4)kees from up north”. So what is one to do as the snow accumulates, businesses close, and the clock reaches noon????? We decided to head to our favorite restaurant Annie's in Parksley Va. We like this place cause they Annies (1)like dragonflies, and the food is really good too!!!! Chef/owner Matt was ready for us with a great Thursday buAnnies (5)ffet (besides the regular menu). Today was my favorite, meatloaf, veggies, stewed tomatoes, and baked apples. Perfect comfort food for a cold snowy day. And they were all decorated for ChAnnies (8)ristmas which made our stop just a little mAnnies (2)ore special.

So what to do after lunch (besides a nap)???? Why not make a loaf of bread to go with the Butternut Squash soup for tonight’s dinner. Now I’m sure most of you have heard that baking is really a chemical reaction (a science i am not fond of nor good at). You have to measure the ingredients precisely, and add them at the proper time or there is no telling what will happen. I am a little lazy and use a bread machine for the whole process. Being a little late starting today and being a little rushed i sort of messed up on the sequence and timing of ingredients to add. If you have ever wondered what a nuclear reaction in a bread machine would look like, wonder no more.

IMG_6056While the top sort of resembles a mushroom cloud, i assure you that it was perfectly edible, even without butter.  IMG_6058IMG_6061

Removal from the machine required a slight tearing off of one edge (really yummy). But as i was struggling with the loaf (and grumbling a little) i happened to look out the window onto our patio and was treated to a wonderful sight.

IMG_6060Sorry, no fireside cocoa and cookies tonight.

It must be the phase of the moon. I made a waffle this morning that produced more than the expected volume of matter.... Sorry, no picture, but it took some time to clean up the waffle iron.

I guess that last pic isn't exactly the norm down there. Looks great though.

:-) :-) :-) Wonderful bread! But the only important thing is that it tastes good :-)

The last photo is so beautiful! Snow is beautiful as long as it doesn´t fall over my cottage :-)

Have a great day now!
Christer.

I agree Old Bike Rrider, things are definately out of phase. Next time stack some of those unused books on top of the waffle maker :-)
Yes grammie, like the Old Bike Rider says " things are out of phase". Or maybe the 'Snow Fairys' hitched a ride with us when we left Maine.
Now and then we do get snow AC, but like this time, it melts the next day. And how can you enjoy snow Christer if you have to travel to see it. Of course like us you could just stay in, make a cup of tea, and 'explode' some bread. After that picture everyone will know why i'm not a chemist. BUT it was yummy Mona. In fact last night was bread and cheese, and tonight was soup and grilled cheese.
Thanks all for enjoying the snow with us.
