Happy Alban Heruin

WOW!!!!! is it hot. BUT this is the First Day of Summer, which is what the title means for those of you who may not be Druidic or speak Gaelic. And if you are and i have misspelled anything let me know.

Along with the Summer Solstice came our first harvest. Some green beans, yellow crook necks, a pepper and a cucumber.IMG_0481

IMG_0476  Of course the zucchini got away from me again. Just one lousy day (see offensive driving). So last night i sliced the biggest one lengthwise, marinated it, and grilled it, along with some fresh corn, a steak, and a cold beer.

We officially no longer consider temperature here on the Shore. From now till Labor Day we go by the heat index which is like the chill factor. BUT HI is based on temp and humidity. Today the humidity started at 100% and is now down to 44% to give us an uncomfortable 94.1 deg., and it’s only 12:45 PM. the real heat will be from 2-5 PM. So all the chores got done early (dusting with BT, transplanting paw paw and pecan trees) and now it is inside time (no hammock ride today :-(… ).

I have heard this about zucchini. Do they decrease in taste or texture as the increase in size?
